The Jesus Guys
Hello Everyone,
How is it the another Transfer is starting? I honestly want to know how time goes by so fast. If you do have an answer please write me, I am curious to hear what crazy explanation you have for this.
This week has been crazy, and I think I remember most of what happened this past week, but we will see.
I'll start off with Transfer news!
I'm staying and getting Elder Winters, and sadly Elder Kartchner is leaving me. He will be missed.
Something that I am grateful for is how the Gospel brings comfort to my life and to those that we teach. This is something that was reminded to me this past week as some friends of ours needed comfort. I know I can't give comfort to them but Christ can and does!
We had exchanges this past week and that was interesting. Probably the most interesting part was the Elder I was with has the same first name as me, and that was a first for me but it didn't affect any part of our day. While on exchanges we pulled into a neighborhood and heard someone was blasting their music. As we drove past one of the houses, we saw where the music was coming from, and the people were head banging to the music. The Elder I was with said that we were going to go talk to those people. So we did! One was walking around with his speakers blasting his music. When we first started to talk to him, he wasn't interested at all. He just went on how he believes in God but not the Bible and how he doesn't care for religion. We kept going, teaching about the Great Apostasy, and it got him to listen to us. Then my companion shared a scripture out of the Book of Mormon and he asked if we wrote that scripture. We told him that we didn't write it, but God did. And he wanted to hear more, but he didn't use that kind of language. I will not repeat what he said because it can miss interpreted and I don't want to say it or write it. But it was cool to see how when we address their needs people are more willing to hear from us.
At the end of another day of fun Elder Kartchner and I went to go clean our car because we heard that we were going to get a new one at transfers. As we were cleaning our car a group of teenagers walked past us, and commented how Elder Kartchner looks like the guy from Ratouille. We made some small talk with them, and then they start asking us if we were missionaries. We talked to them about it and they started to ask us a ton Gospel questions. All the questions were genuine and questions I hadn't gotten before. Questions like, "Is profanity a sin." We talked about how we want God's spirit to be with us, but as we use that language it causes the Holy Ghost to leave us. After we explained it is made so much sense to one of the teenagers and he explained it in his own words. We talked to them for a while and they kept calling us the Jesus Guys. Then they took of picture with us and posted it on Snapchat.
This week we also taught a part member family who want to start coming to church. They mainly speak Spanish so we needed get a member who also spoke Spanish. When we went over to teach this family they also had one of their friends over there as well. He didn't speak any English, but as we were teaching the Restoration of the Gospel, this friends pulls out us phone and downloads the Book of Mormon app on his phone. No one told him to get, no one even told him that there was an app, he just went and got it. It was a great lesson and the Family was so focused on what the Book of Mormon could do for them. It was wonderful even though I didn't know what was being said.
I am so excited for this General conference as I am for every General conference, but this one especially because I'm on my mission and how Easter is so close. I feel a deeper love for My Savior now, and that will continue to grow. I will Remember and be Strengthened by His Atonement. Something that I learned about is how Christ's Disciples started to worship the Sabbath on Sunday to remember Christ's Resurrection. Every Sunday we remember Jesus Christ and His Atonement, how He died for us and how He lives! Sunday is a sign that He lives! I know it, and I testify to world that He does. I say these things in His holy name, even Jesus Christ Amen.
