Individually packaged refried beens 🥜 August 22, 2022
Hear ye hear ye!
We will now commence the Email of the Red Rascal Robertson Elder.
This week was fast and I can't believe it is already over. This week was Elder Cameron's last on the mission. He will be headed home on Wednesday after serving faithful for two years. And I still don't know who my next companion is going to be. I guess we will find out on Tuesday, or I will and then I'll let y'all know next week.
So let's see here, what happed this last week. Well for starters, after I emailed y'all that week we played a game of P.I.G. (you know the basketball one) and anyone who knows me knows I'm not the best at sports, but I did make a perfect hook shot from the three point line. Going on my list for things I didn't expect on the mission. That was great, almost made we want to learn how to do basketball.
Moving on to the good stuff. We had exchanges on Tuesday and I joined up with Elder Magnusson in my area. We had a good time and were able to have a great lesson with Laura. ( I think I talked about her last week). We were able to meet with her and she said that she had done some of her own research about The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints, and she said what she found came off as us being a cult. And she didn't believe it and said that she wanted to see what we were about, and to not take things from one source. I was so glad that she still wanted to learn from us. We taught her about the restoration and some many things started to click for her. Especially with the Great apostasy because she speaks 7 different languages and reads the Bible in Hebrew and other languages and notices that there are some things that are not the same. We gave her a copy of The Book of Mormon and she loved it, and then we asked when we could come back and share more with her and she said October. The sadness part of the tale, but it is in God's hands which means it will be fine.
Also we stopped by a neighborhood that was called Nottingham Woods. One the greatest signs I have seen in Georgia. And all the road names were after some wonderful characters such as Little John, and Friar Tuck, also King Arthur. Still looking for Robin Hood though I'm sure everyone else is too.
Also also, we were grabbing some lunch at the mall and the guys who made our order recognized us as missionaries. He knew we shared messages of God because he met with Missionaries when he was 17 in Mexico and he still remembered the Nephites and the Lamanites. He said that he didn't have a Spanish copy of the Book of Mormon, but we sent his information over to the Spanish Sisters so they could help him out.
This past week we have been able to find quite a bit of new friends to teach, but once again being able to meet with them a second time is tricky. We meet some wonderful people that I hope to meet with them soon. Ended up meeting a deputy and he was interested, he also asked us about witches and if they were real. Because he has arrested some people that said they would curse spells on him. Thankfully he didn't believe them. But that was probably the weirdest question I have gotten in a while.
We had Elder Cameron's last district council, and because it was he last he gave his testimony at the end, but with flair. He played some Destiny music on his speaker while giving his testimony. It was a good laugh, but I am more grateful for his words and the dedication that he put into serving the Lord, and you could see that by how he worked.
Things started to slow down close to the end of the week, people canceling lessons and what not. But I did get some wonderful mail from my family and letters from my home ward. It made my day. Now if I can learn how to read cursive it will make my week. Thank you family, thank you Big Thomson River ward, thank you Colorado!
I'm always amazed by the Members of Christ Church, and there examples. Being able to go I to their homes and feel the spirit as we get to know them is one of my favorite parts of the mission experience. And then we have the chance to share a message that I can feel the spirit again and learn something knew, as I'm teaching. Everyday we have a chance to feel the Spirit and learn from God what He wanted us to learn, and I can't believe with how much I can learn with in a week of studies. I thought I knew it all when I left Colorado, boy was I wrong. There is so much to learn to understand, to feel. God wants us to learn and understand and to feel His love. And I want to feel it in every moment in my life. Good thing Eternity is a long time.
I feel this week I have been learning from Elder Holland a lot. I love his talks especially his talked called "Safety for the soul". In the talk he gives a powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon, every time I watch I am filled with excitement and joy from the Spirit. And I too want to be able stand before God knowing that I gave it my all, and that I declared with the most straightforward language I can speak that I know the Book of Mormon to be true and be the Word of God! I will stand with my testimony of the Book of Mormon and of God forever. The earth shall pass away, and I will still love God and All he has done for me. I say these things in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, He who has immovable in his testimony, amen.

Elder Magnusson and I at the front of the mall. Sorry the sign was simply too bright.
A bag of Boiled Peanuts, ( I don't think that I will ever try them) Also "individually packaged refried beens" is what one of the Elders call them, so I will call them the same from this point on.
Love Y'all, and grateful to all of y'all. And God be with you till we meet again.
