Miracles in times of hardships
Hello Everyone!
It has been a fun and crazy week! Normally I wouldn't know where to start, but I think I'll start at the beginning. That way somethings make sense latter on.
I have a new companion, Elder Moss! He is awesome, and better than that he is a also a redhead! We ended up getting to know each other well because we spend a lot of time driving. Also you read that right, "a companion". We were supposed to get a brand new companion that we could train, that way we would be in a Trio. However as soon as I got to mission office, where we do transfers, I was told that there was a mistake. Apparently Elder Moss and I would not be Training. Sad time, don't know what entirely happened, but I'm grateful for being comforted by the Holy Ghost. Had I started training I would have been ready.
This week was pretty hard and stressful, but looking back I can see how God helped me through it all. Taking over your area is a challenge. I didn't really understand how hard it would be until we started going this week. Knowing how we do things and who ever one is is certainly taxing. I am training an experienced missionary on the area so I guess I'm training in a way.
There are a lot of heavily gated communities in Ellijay, and there is no way so sneak into them. However we got into the most heavily secured of the communities. The Coosawattee. There was a member that lives in the Coosawattee and she let us in to help her with some service. We got to know her and hear her life story, and I love hearing people's stories and their testimonies. Before we found her we definitely got lost and knocked on the wrong door. And we met this old lady that yelled at us to go away and that she would called the cops. So we left and eventually found the right house.
This transfer our whole mission is focused on miracles. We are seeing how we can make miracles happen in our areas. Thinking how miracles have happened in the scriptures and I know that Miracles follow an act of faith. And I know that faith without works is dead, so what is the work that I need to put into my day? The work that I have to put into my day to day efforts is. Making sure that I am doing all the things that God has asked that I do. And when I am asked to do more I go further and I actually do it. I have to give all my effort, than God will help make the efforts turn into a miracle.
This Sunday I was able to feel the peace that I needed. I was able to feel the calm and I needed it the most. This Sunday we talked about what makes Sundays so special and what do we do to keep it holy. Treating it as a connection to God to bring him more into our lives. Thinking of the activities not as a do and do not list, but asking what sign am I showing to God. That has given me more knowledge to know what things I should be thinking about as I go about my rest of my life. Sunday night we got together as a Zone at the stake president's house where we had a Devotional. Talking about miracles and how we can go further as we work, and how we could do that. I felt the spirit strongly, and felt that I was opening of to others more and being a little but more of myself.
I know that God is aware of each of us and what we are going through. He sent His son Jesus Christ to help us experience this life and to not walk it alone. When in times of hardships and sorrow look towards God for strength and for comfort. He will give you strength and comfort, and they will come in ways that you didn't expect. That is something that I have experienced, and something that everyone needs to experience and to experience daily. When we do this it lifts us higher than we could ever go alone because we are never alone I saw these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
Here are some pictures from last P-day. Where we drove to the top of a mountain with my last companion Elder Riddle. I will miss him.
Also a tree that is shaped like a swing, with no swinging motion.
