Marshmallow people (no context)
Good Morning,
I hope everyone had a great week, and that you all are doing well. This week was a blast; so much happening and so much fun. I hope that I can do it justice and remember all that happened.
Starting off last week was transfers. I didn't move and neither did my companion, but our whole zone changed. Our district changed as well. Our Zone leaders who are in are district both moved. One went home and the other became the Assistant to the President of our mission(or AP). The other Elders in our district are training a new missionary, so they are now in a trio. Our new Zone leaders are awesome and one of them was the AP before this transfer. I haven't met all the new people in the Zone, but I'm pretty sure that just about everyone is training a new missionary.
We had an amazing experience on Tuesday because we were in the right place at the right time. We were going about our normal missionary work, and about to go tracking in a neighborhood (knocking on doors randomly). We got there and we both did not feel that we were supposed to do that. So we didn't. We starting driving around trying to get in contact with people that were interested at some point. We were not having too much success. We saw that there was someone close by that referred himself to have a prayer with the Missionaries, that was us. He had just referred himself that day. When he got to his door he was so happy. He was glad and surprised that we were there so quickly. He immediately welcomed us in and we just started talking. He told us a lot about himself and what some of his concerns in life were. We helped comfort some of his worries, and talked with him about what we do as missionaries. We shared truths, and he agreed with them. He had mentioned how he wondered where Christ's authority went, and it touched me to know that I hold that Priesthood authority to help people. He asked if we had some sort of prayer to help him and we were able to give him a blessing. I have always loved blessings because they strengthen me and bring me closer to God, and now I have a privilege to give blessings to others, and it allows me to see people with the love that their Father in Heaven has for them. I loved meeting with this man and I hope that I can continue to help him.
On Wednesday I got to go on exchanges with one of our Zone leaders; the one who was AP. It was an awesome experience where I got to learn from him and how he was able to teach so simply. Similar to how Christ taught, so even a child could understand and learn. I also got to start driving which is so much fun! I haven't done it in such a long time. I was a little nervous at first because it was a car I wasn't used to and it had been so long, and I didn't know the area, and Georgia roads are "fun". Despite all of this, I still had a great time and was able to drive safely.
I'm starting to love more and more the little things that I do as a missionary. Simply walking down the street in a neighborhood looking for people that God would put in our path. The sun shining in the sky makes the day so much fun. I love this beautiful world that we live on.
We were finally able to meet with this one lady who asked us to come by, but the past few weeks hasn't been working out. This week though was different. We went to her home and met a couple of people that she knew. We were able to talk to them while we were waiting for her to come out when she was done with her phone call. We talked to them about the restoration, handed out a copy of the Book of Mormon, and kept talking. Then she walked out and we got to talk about the restoration again! But this time going into more detail and filled with the spirit. She wanted to know why there were so many churches, and it was cool that she wanted to know that because we could give her an answer that she knew to be the truth. We shared another copy of the Book of Mormon, and they wanted us to come back. I'm so glad that we were able to meet and talk with them. Also fun fact one of the people we were talking to was called Redbone. No one knows his real name and they all call him Redbone. Love meeting people even if I can't call them by their given name.
We had a family Baptized this Saturday. The Hobbs had committed to bear one another's burdens and to be Christ-like in all that they do. So much goodness in seeing their joy on that day. They had said that they were excited and nervous this entire week, but that day they were just excited. I loved how the father was able to baptize the rest of the family. I could see how much in meant to them, and it touched my heart. I love that I got to see how much they have grown and I got to see that after they were baptized they weren't completely different people. They were still themselves, but they had started walking Him, Christ, and becoming more who they were before this life. They started a path to fulfill who they can be, and I know that their lives were changed for the better on that day.
Sunday's are the best hearing people in church and the listening to the Spirit. All of our recent converts at church, and one of them gave a powerful talk about becoming Christ-like. We also got to hear from Brother Hobbs, and he also gave a awesome testimony and talk. It was a great sacrament meeting with the Hobbs family receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost as well. We also taught the lesson for Sunday school. Good times.
I am grateful for this week. I know it was a blessing, but at times I wasn't thinking that it was hard. No matter how hard things get there is a way for happiness in this moment because it comes From our loving Heavenly Father, and our Savior Jesus Christ. There is comfort in this life when we go through our hardest moments or when we see others going through the moment. When life is hard and you are think "why," ask God. Express your concerns, allow him to comfort you. I know that when you do this you will be comforted because I have been when I ask why and listen for an answer, sometimes I have to find it in the scriptures but I still find it and I have comforted. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
